Dr. Erika Di Iorio

Dr. Erika Di Iorio, researcher (RTD, lett.B) at the Department of Agriculture, Food Environment, University of Molise, from 01/03/2022.

She achieved National Scientific Qualification as Associate Professor for the Scientific Sector 07 / E1 (AGR/14, Pedology), on 12/11/2020.

Education. Graduated with honors in Forestry and Environmental Sciences and Technologies at the University of Molise. In 2015 she obtained the PhD in “Defense and Quality of Agro-Food and Forestry Productions” cycle XXVII, Pedology sector AGR/14. In 2016 she was the winner of a research grant, on SSD AGR/14, entitled: “Forms and processes of soil degradation in Molise”.

She is a member of the Directors Board of the Italian Society of Pedology, and of the Italian Society of Soil Science, Division II, for the two-year period 2021-2022 and 2023-2024.

The scientific skills concern:

  • Diffuse Reflectance Spectroscopy (DRS) applied to the chemical and mineralogical properties of soil with the chemometric approach;
  • the characterization of iron oxides and humic acids;
  • soil erosion in the Mediterranean regions;
  • the pedogenesis of paleosols in fluvial-lacustrine sequences;
